I think a lot of this was translated in the out-of-print UK publication Ding Dong Circus (which will hopefully be reprinted some day). "Maki Sasaki, a manga artist, illustrator, and picture book writer who made a brilliant debut with 'Garo' in the 1960s. A collection of avant-garde manga works from the 1960s to the 1980s."
