“ii” (pronounced ī ī) is the latest side project and moniker for indie-folk singer-songwriter, producer, and multimedia artist Pieta Brown. “This playful track arrived so organically - as I was trying to learn more about recording and making music with computers. It started with my electric guitar and lots of confusion and emotion I was feeling connected to the politics and realities surrounding body autonomy rights. As I started experimenting with recording some electric guitar one evening with the windows open the cicadas were loud and something about the blend of those sounds got me chasing a spark. It was a one-thing-leads-to-another way of landing a song. As it all slowly unfolded I learned a lot…and had fun…but Gail Ann Dorsey’s delivery of the lyric really makes the track. Gail’s voice encompasses so much beyond the lyrics. For me this track is a kind of urgent ode - to feeling free and intact.”
